Aubergine is my Pug dog -- I am Laurie* I have two pet Brussels Griffons too, Lily & Penny.
My work is inspired by the idea that all of the items I cast from once had a life ... and I love to daydream about where that may have been, or what it could have been like.
I am also fascinated with all animals and their talismanic attributes. I hope to inspire the wearer to bring forth characteristics (of animals) they may already have, or strive to attain.
I love the juxtaposition of taking something that many discard after death, such as a bone, and immortalizing it in precious metal. I still marvel at the beauty of the tiniest bird femur, or the pygmy seahorse, each time I make a new one.
Really, I enjoy making these pieces! I have collected oddities and beauties of nature since childhood -- and it all just makes so much more sense to me now.
Many of these pieces here are *one of a kind*.
